Privacy Statement for Donors (web-applicable)
Your privacy is a personal and fundamental right. Desert
Communities United Way values and protects your privacy and
places strict controls on the gathering and use of personally
identifiable data. Desert Communities United Way Policy Desert
Communities United Way uses industry standard practices to
safeguard the confidentiality of your personal identifiable
information, including firewalls and Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
encryption. Desert Communities United Way treats data as an
asset that must be protected against loss and unauthorized
access. We employ many different security techniques to protect
such data from unauthorized access by users inside and outside
the company.
Privacy for Data You Submit Desert
Communities United Way sends and stores data in an encrypted,
archived format that is not accessible to users who do not
possess the encryption key and password for the account that
backed up the data. Desert Communities United Way employs strict
policies on controlling this secure information.
The Way We Use Your Information We use the
information you provide about yourself when donating only to
record that donation so that we can acknowledge your gift to our
community. We do not share this information with outside
parties.
Your personal information is not disclosed,
made available, or otherwise used for purposes other than those
specified at the time of collection, except with your consent or
as authorized by law or regulation. We use return email
addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not
used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside
parties.
Secure Information All personal information
submitted to Desert Communities United Way is secured against
loss, damage, modification, unauthorized access, or disclosure
as required by Federal and Ohio Law. Information voluntarily
provided by you will be protected by the appropriate computer,
network, and Internet technical security controls at the
employee and departmental level to prevent unauthorized access.
Some of these security controls are: password and user
identification verification, data encryption, confidential
transmissions, secure storage areas, and audit trails.
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data
accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, Desert
Communities United Way implements and annually updates
appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to
safeguard and secure the information we collect.
To protect your privacy and security, we will
also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before
granting access or making corrections. In addition, Desert
Communities United Way employees are educated regarding the
requirements of working with confidential and personally
identifiable information as well as the consequences of misuse.
To help ensure the confidentiality of your
personal information, it is important for you to protect against
unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be
sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.

Cookies (not even temporarily).
dcuw.org is safe. There is no need to
download any software to use our applications and services.
Hence, your system's security is not compromised by their use,
and your personal data - other than data you submit in the
donation form, and the user-agent information that is
transmitted by your browser - is never transmitted to our
servers.
As a general rule, we do not log on-line
behavior of individuals (other than normal logging of webserver
'hits'). However, in cases of abuse, hacking, unauthorized
access, Denial of Service attacks, or any other harmful
behavior, Desert Communities United Way system administrators
are empowered to log, track, identify, publish, and ban
misbehaving individuals - even if this leads to banning entire
blocks of IP addresses, or disclosing users' identities.
